Working Executive Chef —SEEKING TO FILL IMMEDIATELY

The Coventry Inn is conducting an active search for a new "working" executive chef. The pub and restaurant has only about seventy-five seats, but goals for the cuisine are ambitious. As a working chef, the successful candidate will plan, develop new recipes, cook, hire, and supervise the kitchen. Costing and pricing are also important issues, and keeping the kitchen clean, neat, and sanitary is also critical. The level of the cuisine is upmarket with everything made from scratch using fresh, local, seasonal, and wild ingredients. There is even the possibility of raising some of our own produce on the owner's farm. The owner is interested in culinary trends but also in traditional recipes and techniques. The owner wishes to work with the chef to develop menus, but he needs to be able to depend on the chef to run the kitchen professionally on a day-to-day basis. The Coventry Inn is a drug free business, and the successful candidate will have partial responsibility for keeping it that way. The successful candidate will be someone who wants to be a great chef and is willing to make the effort required to achieve that goal. The chef will be a visible member of the restaurant staff, and the owner will promote his or her image in the market place.

The Coventry Inn is a beautiful building in English Tudor style lovingly built over a long period. It is completely unique, and it is a marvelous setting for a chef to develop her or her career. This position would be an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to get off the cooking line and into her or her own kitchen, working for an owner who expects a lot but supports his employees personally and professionally.

Bar Tender/Bar Manager —SEEKING TO FILL IMMEDIATELY

The Coventry Inn is seeking an excellent bar tender to handle all responsibilities relating to the bar, including cleaning and sanitizing. Qualifications needed are the knowledge of and interest in mixing very high quality cocktails from ingredients rather than from mixers. Knowledge of beers and wines is also useful, along with computer literacy at least as far as operating a Micros E7 point of sale system. Candidate must also be personable,and have good spoken language skills. If the candidate has qualifications, he or she may also be hired as front of the house manager. The Coventry Inn will be open three evenings a week, beginning in early autumn, and we also hold some private parties on other nights. The Coventry Inn is a drug-free operation, and being drug free is also a qualification for the position.

Kitchen Staff—Hiring now for autumn

Kitchen staff should be vibrant, energetic, and excited to have the opportunity to work in a restaurant with high goals and expectations. Very few local restaurants offer young chefs and cooks opportunities to cook very fine food from scratch using home-made stocks and best quality ingredients, many from local sources. We have many opportunties for chefs and cooks who want to perfect their skills and to grow in the culinary field.

Wait Staff—Hiring now for autumn

We want staff who speak well, look neat and clean, and care to do an excellent job. We have aimed for quality rather than quantity, and we like to keep the wait staff small and busy. If we get the business that we desire, wait staff will serve an upmarket clientele with good taste and good manners.

Our wait staff uniforms are unique in Indiana, and they present our staff well to our patrons. Khaki skirts for each waitress—dress khaki trousers are worn by waiters, and the shirts and ties we have selected make everyone look fresh and colourful. Wait staff members have traditionally made good tips at Coventry, and our policy of working with an small but expert staff enhances this potential.

Cleaners, Dish Washers, Etc.

As time goes on, The Coventry Inn will require all types of restaurant employees to maintain our facility, to keep it spotlessly clean, and to maintain our dishes, tableware, and pots and pans. Some people just want a job, and some love this kind of work. We want people who love this kind of work, and this is something that no one can fake.
